Interface Study

As part of a larger trading platform project, I looked at options for adapting existing corporate brand design elements and extrapolating how they could be applied to different concepts and design principles in order to overcome measured problems detected in application analytics and user testing and investigations: cognitive load, lag time for discerning specific interface items, understanding the relationship between items, fragmented attention, and sensory saturation. Taking cues from "flat" design and Google's Material Design, I explored just what was sufficient, and how little was needed visually to differentiate aspects of the interface, which were put in front of users in a battery of task based testing.

This early phase was static, used to evaluate concepts in removing decoration and superfluous object nesting. Subsequent steps were interactive with live data, then live data visualizations.
